St. Peter's
Very nice spire on a somewhat plain romanesque church, closed for repairs.

St. Patroclus
Across the street is St. Patroclus' church. You are going to argue that Achilles had a goddess for a mother, and was therefore unlikely to be a Christian. But that's him; it doesn't imply anything about any of his friends.

St. Patroclus
The church has a marvelously big tower. arcade.

St. Patroclus
And a very nice arcade.

The back of the apse has this wonderful romanesque painting, restored to the original design.

City Walls
My hotel was across the street from the city walls.

City Walls
This passage was cut into the wall to give easier access.

City Walls
You don't actually get to see the wall when you're walking on it, but it's a nice walk anyway.

City Walls
You do get to see the towers, like this one.

City Walls
A view inside it. There were some short tower stubs, with steps leading up into them, but like this tower, they are all closed off.

City Walls
But you can still look inside.

City Walls
Apparently the wall was taller in the old days.

City Walls
There are breaks in the wall to allow roads to pass through, and I took advantage of one to get this picture of the outside of the tower.

City Walls
There's a sign saying this is a tower, but it's so overgrown, you have to take their word for it.

A section of the wall, showing some repair

Osthofentor
A big gatehouse, now a museum for the town's history

One more. Notice the garderobe on the side.

Inside the gate, a defensive port

The Town
I did not see all that many cats in Germany, but those I saw were mostly black and white.

The Town
I tried to get him to look right at me, and he did, but I took the picture too quickly and it was hopelessly blurred. This has to do.

The Town
Ah, he heard something.

The Town
Oh, yes, there are houses in the town, too. Rather nice decoration.

The Town
400 year old brewpub, so good, there wasn't a table for me.

St. Patroclus
The church tower again, after the sun had come out.

The Town
I like the odd heraldic decorations on some buildings.

The Town
St. Patroclus, again.

The Town
A fine seven storyed building

Some statues decorating a house

The Town
A house under repair, showing how they fit new pieces of wood into the old beams.

The Town
I was smoking my pipe in a little park near my hotel, and got to watch a number of rabbits running around the grass.
