Ireland 2014:16 Poulnabrone Dolmen |
Up |
Poulnabrone Dolmen A dolmen is the remains of an ancient tomb. They were originally covered with dirt to form a barrow, but if the covering erodes away, the stone burial chamber stands exposed. |
Poulnabrone Dolmen This dolmen is rather nice, and is roped off to discourage casual vandalism. |
Poulnabrone Dolmen I took several pictures from different angles to show how it was made. |
Poulnabrone Dolmen It's not very large inside, but it may have contained up to 2 dozen sets of remains. |
