Panda and me

I'm a dull old guy who's led a dull life, and you can share it here. Seriously, it hasn't been all that dull, and I won't bore you with the really dull parts. I'll even leave out some of the interesting stuff.

I was drafted into the Army just before the draft lottery started. I went to grad school after the Army to study history. Later I found a job with an insurance company. I became an underwriter and surprised myself by becoming good at it. I did that for ten years before becoming stupid. I had been passed over for a promotion and quit in a huff to open a game and hobby shop. It was a lot of fun, but fun didn’t pay the bills. I wound up working at the local university, eventually as a computer technician.

In between all of that, I belonged to an organization called The Society for Creative Anachronism, which does re-creations of medieval life. Not reenactments of famous battles, like the Civil War people, just dressing up in medieval garb, holding tournaments, feasts, and dances. I became an adequate fighter for a while, a decent administrator, and made a lot of good friends.

Eventually came the wonderful day when I retired! Now I could do what I wanted, instead of what some boss wanted. Hooray! Most of the vacations on this site happened after my retirement. I had time and enough income to travel and see things that interested me. I always planned my own itinerary and wandered all over the countryside. Canned tours never really interested me. You can find them under the "Vacation" link, or HERE.

A while back, I took up writing as a hobby. My books are published on Amazon, and there are samples of some under the "Writing" link. Information on existing books, previews of new books or books in progress, or ideas for future books are HERE.

I have some videos of my cats here.

I have some videos of Viking games here.
